Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam to act as CJ from Oct 14-18

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2025 (BSS) - Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will act as Chief Justice (CJ) from October 14 to October 18, during the Thailand visit of Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.

"During this time, or till Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed joins his office, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will observe the duty of Chief Justice of the 
country," said a Law and Justice Division notice.

Signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Liaquet Ali Molla, the notice said Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, the senior-most judge in the Appellate Division, has been granted the president's approval to perform the duties of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh in accordance with Article 97 of the Constitution.
