DHAKA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - The government has moved to procure 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice for the current fiscal year (FY26) through international open tendering method.

The Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase today approved a proposal in this regard in its 44th meeting in this year held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

The proposal, placed by the Ministry of Food and to be implemented by the Directorate General of Food, involves the purchase of rice from M/S Gurudeo Exports Corporation Private Limited, a supplier based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India under package-3.

According to the procurement proposal, the total cost of the consignment will be Taka 217.68 crore while each metric ton of rice is priced at US$356.78.

Following the evaluation of bids submitted under the international tender process, Gurudeo Exports emerged as the responsive bidder.
