DHAKA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved a proposal in principle for procuring crude oil on government-to-government (G2G) arrangement under the direct procurement method for processing at Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) in the 2026 calendar year.

The Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs in its 36th meeting this year recommended approving the proposal placed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today.

After review, the committee endorsed the move, noting that the crude oil import is essential to ensure uninterrupted supply and refining operations at ERL, the country's state-owned oil refinery.
