NCP convening committee formed in Kurigram

KURIGRAM, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - A 64-member district convening committee of National Citizen Party (NCP) has been formed in Kurigram by dissolving the previous coordination committee of the party.

According to an announcement published yesterday (September 8) on the central verified Facebook page of the NCP, Mukul Mia has been given the post of convener, while Masum Mia has been named the member secretary of the newly formed committee for a six-month tenure.

The committee received formal approval from NCP Central Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam.

Among the key committee members, Mahmudul Hasan Jewel has been named Senior Joint Convener, and Rasheduzzaman Towhid has been appointed as the first  Joint Convener. Ten others have also been included as joint conveners.

In addition, Maulana Dinar Minhaj has been made Senior Joint Member Secretary, Shahjahan Ali Suman as Joint Member Secretary, Mozammel Haque Babu as Organizing Secretary, and Ariful Islam and Golam Rasul Rony as July Uprising and Liberation War Affairs Secretaries. The committee comprises a total of 38 executive members.

The newly formed body includes seven female members, with Nasira Khandaker Nisa, an active leader of the district women’s front, appointed as Joint Member Secretary.

Speaking about the formation, NCP Central Joint Convener and Rangpur Divisional Organizing Secretary Dr. Atiq Mujahid said the committee was structured based on members’ competence, organizational skills, and previous performance.

He added that applicants for the posts of convener and member secretary underwent oral examinations and biographical verifications at the divisional level, conducted at the Rangpur Circuit House through an online Google Form process.

The evaluation session was attended by NCP Central Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam, and several other central leaders.
