DHAKA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi Division took a crucial first innings lead in the low-scoring match against Barishal despite a five-wicket haul of left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam in the third round game of National Cricket League (NCL) at Khulna Stadium today.

Resuming the Day 2 at six for no loss, Rajshahi were bowled out for 235, in reply to Barishal's 212. That gave them a 23-run lead, which Barishal eventually reduced to 1, after reaching 22-1 at stumps.

Tanvir sliced the top order in a disciplined bowling but Pritom Kumar held together to steady the innings. Before being trapped leg-before by Tanvir, he made 65 off 93 with seven boundaries.

Later Ali Mohammad Walid hit an unbeaten 45 and Sunzamul Islam scored 38 to help the side take the lead.

Yeasin Arafat Mishu took 3-33 and Ruyel Mea bagged 2-48 to complement Tanvir.

Fazle Mahmud was batting 12 with Zahiduzzaman Khan on 6 for Barishal when the bails were drawn.
