12 AL, BCL, Jubo League activists held in Savar

DHAKA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - Police have detained 12 leaders and activists of Awami League, which activities are now banned and its affiliated organization Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), and Jubo League during a special operation in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Piyush (21), Rabbi (21), Shakil (23), Sohag (19), Salman (22), Amir Hossain (50), Ferdous Hossain Rubel (28), Shamim Ahmed Joy (29), Mizanur Rahman Russell (42), Tipu Sultan (27), Nitya Babu Rajbangshi (52), and Shariful Islam (32). All are reported to be active members of Awami League and its affiliated organizations.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Mia of Savar Police Station confirmed that the arrests took place near entrance of Khasrubagan Chand Residential Hotel in Majidpur village on Dhaka-Aricha Highway.

The police said the accused had gathered with the intent to create unrest and were attempting to organize a sudden procession. 

Upon sensing police presence, they tried to flee, but police managed to detain them.
