JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) – Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today celebrated the death sentence against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina by hanging a symbolic effigy and distributing sweets following the verdict in the July–August 2024 mass killings case, classified as a crime against humanity.

After the announcement of the verdict, Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union representatives and general students gathered in the university's Bot Tola area around 4:30 pm.

The students hung a symbolic effigy of Sheikh Hasina from a tree branch and later distributed sweets among the attendees.

JUCSU General Secretary Mazharul Islam said, “The verdict stands as a historic document of justice against tyranny and oppression. The martyrs and injured victims of July have finally received due justice.”
