RAJSHAHI, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - A daylong education fair under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor Programme was held at Rajshahi University (RU) today, aiming to promote academic and professional cooperation between the two countries.

RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan spoke as special guests.

Pakistan's Higher Education Director Jehan Jeb Khan and Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Kamran Dangal were also present.

Fifteen leading universities from Pakistan participated in the fair, where RU students were informed about 500 fully funded scholarships offered by the Pakistan government for Bangladeshi students.

Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib said the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor aims to strengthen educational and professional ties through scholarships, joint research, and training programs for civil servants.

He added that the initiative also seeks to enhance academic and cultural links, foster partnership based on shared history, and promote mutual learning through student exchanges and collaborative research.

Jehan Jeb Khan said the programme will provide 500 scholarships over five years for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in Pakistan, with 25 percent of the scholarships reserved for medical studies.

He added that the programme will also offer training for 100 Bangladeshi civil servants in areas such as public sector management, public policy, and project management.

He further said the initiative aims to deepen cooperation through academic exchanges, joint research, and expanding existing scholarship opportunities, including increasing slots under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme from five to 25.

The programme will create opportunities for students and scholars to learn from each other and strengthen bilateral ties.
