CHATTOGRAM, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - Secretary to the Ministry of Law, Judiciary and Parliamentary Affairs Liakat Ali Mollah today said that digitization of existing family courts through the introduction of the e-family court system is a major initiative to reduce the suffering of concerned litigants.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the e-family court in Chattogram, held at the Bar Association Auditorium.

Describing the key features of the court, the Law Secretary said all procedures - from filing complaints to daily court activities - can be completed online, as the system is fully digital.

He added that the launch of the e-family court in Chattogram will open a new horizon in delivering legal services to litigants. Manual operations will continue alongside digital services.

He said the new digital system will significantly reduce the fear of losing case files and will also help family court cases conclude faster.

"Digitization will lessen harassment of justice-seekers, end cumbersome processes, and ensure transparency in case procedures," the Law Secretary said.

Speaking at the function, Chattogram District Bar Association President Advocate Abdus Satter said the e-family court will be paperless and equipped with all necessary technologies. "This court aims to speed up the entire legal process through digitization," he added.

"Each litigant can now record attendance from their respective locations, file complaints, sign Vakalatnama, and attend hearings. They will receive notifications on case developments via SMS, eliminating the need to visit the court unnecessarily," Advocate Satter elaborated.

To access e-family court services, litigants and lawyers must first register through the official apps, provide basic information, and set a personal password for individual access, officials said.

Chattogram District and Session Judge Hemayet Uddin, Metropolitan Session Judge Hasanul Islam, and Joint Secretary of the Law, Judiciary and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry Azizul Haque, among others, attended the function.
