JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Jahangirnagar University Department of Statistics Alumni Association (JUDSAA) on Saturday organised the first-ever JUDSAA Sports Carnival 2025 on the university campus.
The daylong carnival brought together alumni, faculty members and current students of the Department of Statistics and Data Science in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, fellowship and collective engagement, said a press release today.
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman was present as the Special Guest. Professor Dr Rumana Rois, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Data Science, joined the event as Guest of Honour.
The programme was chaired by Md Anis Ur Rahman, President of JUDSAA and Executive Director (Statistics) of Bangladesh Bank. The event was coordinated under the leadership of Convenor Mohammad Arif Uddin, Senior Vice President of United Commercial Bank, and Kazi Arifur Rahaman, Secretary of JUDSAA and Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Throughout the day, a wide range of sporting events including marathon, football, cricket, basketball, table tennis, badminton, cards and carrom were held with enthusiastic participation from alumni of various batches and present students, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere across the campus.
The carnival concluded with a colourful prize-giving ceremony where winners of all categories received crests and medals. The Vice Chancellor and other distinguished guests lauded the initiative and praised the spirited participation that made the inaugural carnival a notable success.
JUDSAA expressed sincere gratitude to all guests, alumni, students, volunteers, sponsors and well-wishers for their contributions in making the maiden sports carnival at Jahangirnagar University a memorable event.
