DHAKA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS)- The Media Freedom Coalition (MFC) today strongly condemned last night attacks on journalists, editors and media houses in Bangladesh, calling the violence a grave threat to press freedom and the public’s right to be informed.

“The Media Freedom Coalition strongly condemns the attacks carried out last night against journalists, editors, and media houses. Such acts of violence and intimidation are unacceptable and strike at the heart of press freedom and the public’s right to be informed,” it said in a statement.

The coalition urged the authorities to ensure the safety and security of all media professionals and called for swift, independent and impartial investigations to bring those responsible to justice.

“Journalists must be able to carry out their work without fear. Protecting them is essential to upholding the rule of law, democratic values, and an open, informed society,” read the statement.

The MFC is a partnership of countries working together proactively to advocate for media freedom at home and abroad.

The MFC also advocates for the safety of journalists and media workers, and holds to account those who harm journalists and severely restrict them from doing their job.
