
DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS)- The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) so far provided legal assistance to 1,34,770 prisoners across the country from 2009 to November 2025.
This information was disclosed in the organization’s latest report published on its website.
The report stated that under this service, the total number of beneficiaries stood at 13,55,423, comprising insolvent and justice-seeking people.
According to the report, although the activities initially began at the district level, legal aid services are now being provided through Legal Aid Offices in all 64 districts, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, Labour Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram and the national helpline call center.
Among the beneficiaries, 30,072 received services through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 11,12,097 through the 64 District Legal Aid Offices, 29,785 through the Labour Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram and 1,94,269 through the National Helpline Call Center.
The report further stated that the NLASO has been carrying out the activities under the Legal Aid Services Act, 2000, with the aim to provide free legal assistance to financially insolvent, helpless and justice-seeking people.
The organization is a government-run service body operating under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
