Malaysia mourns passing of Khaleda Zia

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – Malaysia today expressed profound condolences over the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, recalling her enduring contributions to Bangladesh’s political history.

“The Government and the people of Malaysia extend its deepest condolences on the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh,” the Malaysian government said in a condolence message. 

Describing her as “a towering figure in the nation’s political history,” the message said her leadership shaped modern Bangladesh and left a lasting legacy.

Malaysia also conveyed its sympathies “to the people of Bangladesh, including the Bangladeshi community in Malaysia.”

“May her legacy endure,” the message added.
