DHAKA, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo today held a discussion meeting with Japanese journalists to exchange views on Bangladesh’s upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum slated to be held on February 12.

The meeting brought together journalists from various Japanese media outlets, who were briefed on Bangladesh’s political and electoral landscape by Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali, according to a press release here. 

During his presentation, the Ambassador outlined preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections and referendum, relevant constitutional processes, and the government’s commitment to ensuring that the democratic exercises are conducted in a transparent, inclusive and credible manner.

A total of 14 journalists representing around nine leading Japanese media organizations participated in the discussion. 

Following the briefing, the Ambassador engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, addressing a wide range of queries on electoral procedures, political developments and issues of interest to the international community.

The meeting provided a platform for open dialogue and helped enhance understanding among Japanese media representatives about Bangladesh’s democratic processes. 

The Embassy reiterated its commitment to continued engagement with international media and stakeholders to facilitate accurate and timely dissemination of information on issues of national importance.
