DHAKA, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) – The Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA) has unveiled a strategic five-year roadmap aimed at transforming the Moheshkhali region into an important energy and logistics hub for Bangladesh.

The decision was formalized today during the authority's first-ever governing board meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) in the city's Tejgaon area.

After the meeting, MIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun said that the board approved a ‘Short-Term Land Allocation Plan’ spanning from 2025 to 2030.

He outlined three primary objectives for the next five years with a heavy emphasis on mitigating the national energy crisis.

"Our major focus will be to properly operationalize the Deep Sea Port," he added.

Alongside the port, he prioritized the rapid establishment of LNG and LPG terminals.

He noted that energy shortage is a big problem currently, and these terminals are essential infrastructure to address the deficit.

He mentioned that the master plan aims to leverage the region's natural resources.

“The board approved plans to establish a dedicated fish processing hub within the zone, ensuring a diversified economic output for the region,” he added.

Having commenced operations in August, he also informed that MIDA is now moving to solidify its workforce.

“The governing board officially approved an organizational structure comprising 137 personnel to oversee the development of these mega-projects,” he added.
