Four private colleges renamed

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - The names of four private colleges affiliated with the National University (NU) have been changed.

A notification in this regard was issued today, signed by NU College Inspector (In-Charge) Nazim Uddin Ahmed.

According to the notification, the decision was taken following a letter issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education on December 29 last year.

Under the new order, Pallabi Mohila Degree College at Mirpur in Dhaka has been renamed Shahid Zia Mohila College, Basail Degree College in Tangail has been renamed Basail Emdad Hamida College, Saleha-Imarat Degree College at Baghmara in Rajshahi has been renamed Shankoa College and Fulgazi Mohila College in Feni has been renamed Begum Khaleda Zia Mahila College.

The order will come into effect immediately following approval by the NU Vice-Chancellor. All departments and affiliated bodies of the National University have been instructed to implement the decision, the notification said.
