KHULNA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar today said people no longer accept the political culture of labeling people as "razakar" or "terrorist" for political purposes.
"Such labels were no longer being accepted by the masses as a tactic for political gain," he told a gathering organized by Dumuria Upazila Jamaat at the Chuknagar Girls' High School field in Dumuria Upazila, Khulna today.
The Jamaat Secretary General highlighted that false statements about Jamaat-e-Islami were being spread on social media with vulgar and offensive language, intensifying the already volatile political situation.
He warned that the consequences of such incitement would ultimately harm those responsible for escalating tensions. "The statements of Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is incomparable to any others. At a time when his account was hacked, false statements were circulated to provoke unrest," he said.
Parwar further criticized the political system over the past 54 years, claiming that the people had been repeatedly deceived by their votes.
He accused a certain group of seizing properties from minority communities, occupying rivers and canals, and engaging in various irregularities that harmed the public's interests.
"Politicians must not divide people on religious lines," he said, adding, "It was time to stop misleading the public by reigniting old debates." He urged for unity in support of the 'Daripalla' (Scale) symbol in the upcoming elections.
Central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir Nurul Islam Saddam also addressed the programme, chaired by Maulana Moktar Hossain, Amir of Dumuria Upazila Jamaat.
