DHAKA, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir (BICS) President Nurul Islam Saddam today said despite facing severe oppression, propaganda, torture and killings, the progress of the student organization could not be stopped.
"Today, the student community of Bangladesh has chosen Chhatra Shibir as their representative. Despite facing red terror from leftist groups, media suppression, false propaganda, and institutionalized persecution, BICS continues to move forward," he said.
He made these remarks at a discussion held at the Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences of University of Dhaka, on the occasion of the 49th founding anniversary of the organization.
Referring to the report of Commission on Enforced Disappearance, Shibir president said Chhatra Shibir has been the most targeted organization, with 31% of abductions under the fascist regime.
He added that Islami Chhatra Shibir remains committed to creating honest, skilled and patriotic citizens.
DU BICS president Muhiuddin Khan presided over the event.
DUCSU General Secretary SM Farhad and DUCSU Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah spoke at the discussion tilted "Islami Chhatra Shibir in Bangladesh: A Journey of Struggle, Sacrifice and Dedication".

Asif Abdullah, in his address, said that due to the oppressive political environment, he never had the chance to stay in dormitories, and his dream was always to chant "Allahu Akbar" at the campus and Shahbagh.
SM Farhad, former DU BICS president, said the current position of Islami Chhatra Shibir is the result of the sacrifice and dedication of thousands of its members.
He mentioned that despite severe persecution during the fascist era, the organization never ceased its activities, training programs, or fundamental organizational work.
Muhiuddin Khan, in the concluding remark, expressed his commitment to moving forward with the goal of building an equitable, law-based, and morally sound Bangladesh.
