Tuku pays tribute to language martyrs

SIRAJGANJ, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS) - Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku paid rich tribute to the Language Movement martyrs at the first hour of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day.

The minister paid homage by placing a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar in Sirajganj at 12:01 am today, marking the beginning of February 21. 

He was accompanied by Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Md Aminul and Superintendent of Police Md Saiful Islam Santu and other officials of different departments of the district administration.

During the observance, the immortal song of Amar Ekushey, "Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February, Ami Ki Bhulite Pari," was played over the microphone, creating a solemn atmosphere.

After placing the wreath, Tuku and others stood in silence for some time as a mark of deep respect to the memories of the Language Movement martyrs.

Later, he placed another wreath on behalf of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). BNP National Executive Committee Member and Sirajganj District BNP General Secretary Md Saidur Rahman Bacchu, along with leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies, were present on the occasion.
