Administrators appointed to DSCC, DNCC, four other city corporations

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed administrators to six city corporations, including Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives made the appointments under the sub-section 1 of the Section 25A of the 'Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Ordinance, 2024', according to a notification issued today.

As per the notification, Md Abdus Salam has been appointed administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation, while Md Shafiqul Islam Khan has been appointed to Dhaka North City Corporation.

Nazrul Islam Manju has been appointed to Khulna City Corporation, Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury to Sylhet City Corporation, Md Sakhawat Hossain Khan to Narayanganj City Corporation, and Md Shawkat Hossain Sarkar to Gazipur City Corporation.

The newly appointed administrators will serve until the respective city corporations are reorganized or until further orders are issued.

They will exercise all powers and perform all duties of the mayors of the six city corporations in accordance with sub-section (3) of Section 25A of the 'Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Ordinance, 2024'. They will receive allowances as per the existing rules, the notification added.
