MANIKGANJ, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) - Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita today said the government, led by Prime Minister Tareque Rahman, would not tolerate corruption, illegal toll collection, and terrorism in society.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a view-exchanging meeting with print and electronic media journalists at the Manikganj Circuit House.

She said the government is giving top priority to the construction of the third terminal at Shahjalal International Airport.

The minister added that the government would ensure hassle-free arrangements for Hajj pilgrims and guarantee the security of expatriates at the airport.

“The people of Manikganj supported me in the election, and I will work to address the problems of the district’s residents,” she said.

Highlighting the impact of river erosion on the local population, she said necessary projects would be undertaken to provide permanent solutions.

“Tourism-focused projects along the Jamuna and Padma rivers will be developed,” she added, noting that the government plans to renovate the Baliati Zamindar Palace and other historic sites in the district.

Later, the minister held a meeting with senior lawyers at the Circuit House and exchanged views with departmental heads at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana.

She also offered Fateha at the grave of her late father, Minister Harunar Rashid Khan Monno, at Monno City Gilanda, and at the grave of the late Chief Whip Khandakar Delwar Hossain in Pachuria.
