Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur keen to enhance religious cooperation

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of religious affairs. 

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and Malaysian Religious Affairs Minister Dr Zulkifli Hasan agreed to this issue in a virtual meeting held on Tuesday, a handout said today.

In his speech, Kaikobad emphasised the exchange of mutual experiences and the best practices in development of Hajj management, zakat administration and religious education system. 

He stressed the need for increasing efficiency in conducting Hajj activities, ensuring transparency in zakat management and developing the capacity of the concerned officials.

During the meeting, they expressed the hope to further enhance cooperation in the field of religion affairs between the two countries in the future. 

In addition, the possibility of making religious education more effective and time-befitting in line with contemporary demands was also discussed.
