Iftar mahfil held marking Jatiya Shaheed Sena Dibas

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - An exchange of views meeting and iftar mahfil was held today at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment, marking the 17th martyrdom anniversary of the martyred officers of the Bangladesh Army and honoring the family members of the martyrs.

Jatiya Shaheed Sena Dibas is observed on February 25 in remembrance of the victims of the Pilkhana carnage. During the tragic incident at the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters in Dhaka on February 25-26, 2009, a total of 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest, according to a press release issued by ISPR. He exchanged greetings with the family members of the martyrs and inquired about their well-being.

During the exchange of views meeting, family members of the martyrs presented their various demands and concerns to the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister assured them that their matters would be considered with due importance and measures would be taken in phases, the release added.

Among others, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, the Defence Adviser, chiefs of the three services, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, senior military and civil officials, members of the martyr families, and media personnel attended the iftar function.
