TANGAIL, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Agriculture, and Food Sultan Salahuddin Tuku today said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, they are working with utmost sincerity from their respective positions for the welfare of the people.

“The government is playing a very liberal and positive role regarding the freedom of the press. There is no interference in this regard. Journalists will be able to perform their professional duties completely freely and impartially," he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an introduction meeting and Iftar gathering for the newly elected executive committee of the Tangail Press Club held at the club’s VIP lounge this afternoon.

Emphasizing responsible journalism, he said the constructive and positive role of the media is crucial for the country's development, upholding democratic values, and maintaining social order. “Journalists will play a pioneering role in nation-building by disseminating objective and fact-based news,” he added.

Highlighting various development initiatives of the government, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said relentless efforts are underway to implement the commitments made by the Prime Minister to ensure the overall welfare of the people.

“Distribution of family cards and agricultural cards is ongoing to strengthen social safety nets and agricultural support.
