Auto-rickshaw driver killed, 7 injured in road accident in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) - An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and seven others were injured in a collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a mini-truck in Lohagara upazila of the district today. 
 
The accident took place on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway near Adhunagar Bus Station area in the upazila around 1:00 pm. 

The deceased was identified as Anik Barua (35), a resident of Adhunagar Moshdia village in the same upazila. 

The injured individuals are Kanij Fatima (40), wife of Kamrul Huda, along with their daughters Rumaisha (5) and Ruja (1), Husner Ara Begum (39) and her son Amir, Kamrul Huda (50), and mini-truck's helper Md. Hasan (17).
 
Dohazari Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salauddin Chowdhury said a Chattogram-bound mini-truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw heading toward Cox's Bazar while overtaking. The auto-rickshaw veered off the road and fell into a ditch, leaving its driver dead. 

Local residents took the injured to a private hospital. Later, six of the injured were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded.
