BNP to move forward imbued with ideals of ‘52, 71, 90 and 24’: Mirza Fakhrul

THAKURGAON, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) – BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the party-BNP will move forward being inspired with the principles of 1952, 71, 90 and 2024.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an Iftar programme organized by the NGO Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) in Thakurgaon.

The programme was presided over by ESDO Executive Director Dr Mohammad Shahid Uz Zaman. 

State Minister for Water Resources and Panchagarh-2 MP Forhad Hossain Azad was present there as special guest.

“The government is only 15 days old, yet we are steadily moving towards our goals,” Mirza Fakhrul said, announcing the start of implementing his electoral promises in the district.

Mirza Fakhrul said a team has already arrived to implement the Thakurgaon Medical College project as announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 
He added that work to operationalization of    Thakurgaon Airport is progressing fast and the establishment of Thakurgaon University will begin soon.

The minister also said construction of an EPZ is underway to create employment opportunities for youth. 

He mentioned that farmers’ TK 10,000 agricultural loans have been waived with interest, and Family Cards for mothers and sisters are being distributed.

“After the people’s Uprising, we are moving ahead to build a new Bangladesh. National unity must be strengthened and progress must be achieved together. We have never accepted defeat and never will,” he said.

Parliament members from Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Dinajpur, government and NGO officials, politicians and dignitaries were also present.
