Former Narayanganj mayor Ivy shown arrested in Selim Mondal murder case

NARAYANGANJ, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) - Former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy was shown arrested today in connection with the murder case of interior worker Selim Mondal during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in 2024.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Narayanganj, Tarek Al Mehedi, confirmed the matter to BSS tonight.

According to the police, Ivy was shown arrested on Thursday afternoon following a court order. Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Mashum Billah of Siddhirganj Police Station submitted a petition to the court, alleging Ivy's involvement in the case, which the court approved.

According to the case documents, on July 20, 2024, during the anti-discrimination student movement, a fire broke out on the ground floor of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited Branch on Chittagong Road in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj. Three workers, including Selim Mondal, who was involved in interior decoration work, were burned to death inside the bank. 

ASP Tarek Al Mehedi said Selina Hayat Ivy is currently in jail and has been shown arrested in accordance with legal procedures.
