Coast guard arrests 30, recovers firearms

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 30 robbers and pirates and recovered four firearms, 17 local weapons and six rounds of live cartridges in the last two months.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan said 32 fishermen who were held hostage by robbers were also rescued and handed over to their families. 

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has strengthened intelligence activities and technical surveillance in addition to patrolling 24-hour areas under its jurisdictions to arrest robbers and pirates, the media official said.
