DHAKA, March 4, 2026 (BSS) – Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Reto Renggli today met Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at his office at the Secretariat.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Renggli congratulated the minister on his victory in the 13th National Parliament elections and reiterated Switzerland’s interest in continuing and expanding cooperation in Bangladesh’s rural development sector.

The meeting underscored the need to further expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed his desire to build positive, constructive and forward-looking relations based on mutual benefit. He also expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral partnerships, particularly in the education and technology sectors.

Mirza Fakhrul said Switzerland is one of the key partners in Bangladesh’s ongoing institutional and democratic progress and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would further increase in the future.

He also invited the Swiss delegation to visit Bangladesh’s local government institutions.

The discussion covered the overall situation in Bangladesh, bilateral relations, expansion of trade and investment, rural development activities, addressing climate change challenges and diplomatic cooperation.

Both sides expressed hope that mutual cooperation and partnership would further accelerate the development and progress of Bangladesh and Switzerland in the future.
