DHAKA, Mar 4, 2026 (BSS) - Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the monitoring of the primary education system would be grounded up to solidify the basic education of children.

“Close observation and monitoring to improve the quality of education will be strengthened starting from primary education,” he told a view exchange meeting Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) officials here.

Simultaneously, he said, necessary steps would be taken to increase the motivation since the fundamental foundation of education begins at the primary school level.

The minister, however, said achieving desired outcomes in education was not possible without implementation of proper plans to infuse dynamism and accountability in the education sector.

He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman laid highest priority to education and he would hold a review meeting on educational matters every Saturday and therefore “the progress of the entire week's work must be presented before him".

The minister asked officials concerned to strengthen field-level activities saying if everyone works with more dedication from their respective positions, the quality of education would improve.

"We must pay special attention to what we have done and how the quality of education can be further enhanced," he said.

The minister said comparatively more emphasis was given to infrastructure development in the past while special focus would now be placed on ensuring quality education.

He stressed a serious review of the implementation status of the ministry's previous projects to assess how far their missions and visions were achieved.

Addressing various demands and grievances of the officers and employees, the minister said "reasonable demands will be addressed gradually”.

“No one will be deprived. I hope the budget will increase this time, which will be conducive to the overall development of education," Milon said.

DPE’s Director General Abu Nur Md. Shamsuzzaman chaired the meeting which was attended by senior and field-level officials of the directorate.
