Swapan calls for ensure accurate and responsible dissemination of information

DHAKA, Mar 5, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has stressed the need for ensuring accurate, precise and responsible dissemination of information alongside rapid flow information.

“Information is a form of power and the core responsibility of the information cadre is to properly manage and deliver this power to the people,” he told an iftar programme organized by the BCS Information Association at theTathya Bhaban in the capital today.

Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry Mahbuba Farzana attended the event as the special guest.

The information minister emphasized the importance of providing prompt, fact-based responses to counter fake news, rumors and propaganda.

He said the Ministry of Information should function like a device where the soft content and soft power of information must be installed.

As the government’s spokespersons, the minister directed officials of the information cadre to disseminate news about the government’s key commitments and their implementation to every corner of the country.
