DHAKA, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - Police from Jatrabari and Hazaribagh stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 49 people during special drives conducted in crime-prone areas of the capital.

According to Jatrabari Police Station sources, a special operation was carried out on Wednesday (March 4) in different parts of the area. 

During the drive, 22 individuals were arrested on various charges.

The arrested persons are: Md Abu alias Semsang (30), Mohon (33), Niamat Ali (40), Hasan Akon (35), Md Hridoy (25), Md Rabbi (28), Faruk (38), Shuvo Sarkar (28), Boishakh (26), Shanto Ahmed (28), Nasir Uddin Shah Imi (25), Md Al Amin (28), Md Habib (19), Mahfuzur Rahman (19), Shishir Chandra Das (20), Md Rajon Mia (36), Md Jibon alias Minhaj alias Hridoy (22), Faruk (34), Hasan Molla (35), Md Rakib Hossain (21), Suman (24), and Md Imran (25).

Meanwhile, sources at Hazaribagh Police Station said that another special drive was conducted in several areas under the station on the same day.

During the operation, 27 individuals, including professional drug dealers and others involved in various crimes, were arrested.

The arrestees are: Joynal Abedin (31), Md Rokon Matabbar (35), Md Ali (45), Md Mostofa Shikdar (40), Md Sohel (35), Md Roni Talukdar (28), Md Ahad (40), Md Shipon (18), Sadman Bin Shahid (18), Md Bayezid (35), Tahiyad Zaman Arian (19), Md Jibon (20), Md Rakib Hossain (23), Md Rajib Mia (20), Md Ferdous (20), Md Masud Hossain (26), Md Rajib (37), Md Moktar Hossain alias Moktar, Maruf Hossain Akash (22), Abdur Rahman Manik alias Dipto Pathor (21), Rakib Molla (26), Md Raihan (19), Md Sajib Hossain (19), Md Ramjan (26), Md Siam Hossain, and Yunus (35).

Police said that among the arrested individuals are regular case accused, warrant-listed fugitives, and suspects involved in different criminal activities.

All the arrested persons have been sent to court, police added.
