Two establishments fined Tk 310,000 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) today fined two establishments a total of Tk 310,000 during drives in Chawkbazar and Garibullah Shah areas in the city.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sonia Haque and Executive Magistrate Jannatul Ferdaus led the separate drives.

The court fined 'Satkania Bhat Ghar' Tk 10,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 after finding cockroaches and rats in the kitchen and raw material storage room. The restaurant was also using unauthorized chemicals in making jilapi and its workers lacked health certificates.

In another drive, 'Home Recipe and Sweets' in Garibullah Shah Housing area was fined Tk 300,000 under Section 33 of the Safe Food Act, 2013 for maintaining an unhygienic environment, keeping an open dustbin, storing raw and cooked food together in a refrigerator and preserving expired food products.

BFSA officials said the drives will continue in the interest of public health and safety.
