Govt plans to revamp the country's medical services: Dr Abdus Salam MP

RANGPUR, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - On the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government has a comprehensive action plan to revamp the country's medical services to ensure healthcare facilities for every citizen.
 
Member of Parliament (MP) from Thakurgaon-2 constituency Dr Md Abdus Salam said this while speaking as the chief guest at the reception, doa and Iftar mahfil held at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) premises this evening. 
 
Rangpur unit of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) organised the programme, participated by the doctors, intern doctors, nurses and people from various professions. 
 
Dr Md Abdus Salam said that implementation of the action plan is already in progress. The government is determined to ensure that every citizen of the country can easily access better healthcare facility. 
 
"We, as doctors, have a lot of responsibility on our shoulders. We must treat our profession as humanitarian service," he said. 
 
At the same time, he drew the Prime Minister's attention to the conversion of Rangpur Medical College into a university with the aim of improving health services and health education in the country's northern region. 
 
Convener of the Iftar Organizing Committee and Rangpur DAB leader Prof Dr Jabed Akhtar presided over the function. 
 
Member of the Advisory Council of BNP Chairperson and DAB Chief Adviser Prof Dr Farhad Halim Donar, DAB President Prof Dr Harun Al Rashid, Secretary General Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil, DAB Advisor Dr Md Mosaddek Hossain Biswas Dambel, Senior Vice President Prof Dr Md Abul Kenan, Treasurer Dr Md Mehedi Hassan and Senior Joint Secretary General Prof Dr AKM Khalequzzaman Dipu, Rangpur Metropolitan DAB Convener Dr Nikhilendra Shankar Guha Roy, DAB Rangpur Member Secretary Prof Dr Md Anwar Hossain, Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Convener Md Samsuzzaman Samu and Member Secretary Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Don attended the programme as special guests.
