Govt's main goal is to bring relief to people: Zonayed Saki

NARAYANGANJ, March 8, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Planning Zonayed Saki said the main objective of the present government is to provide relief to people.

He made the remarks while addressing an iftar gathering organised by the district and city units of Ganosamhati Andolan at a convention hall in Narayanganj city on Saturday evening.

Saki said the government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken a number of initiatives to strengthen the country's economy, protect the banking sector and ensure the basic rights of citizens.

Among the measures are the introduction of family cards and agriculture cards as well as initiatives to waive agricultural loans, he added.

He also stressed the need for unity and cooperation among all to overcome current global challenges and advance the country through democratic processes.

Referring to the last national election, he said the country has crossed an important milestone in its democratic journey.

Saki, also the chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, said people had fought for a long time against a fascist government and that 39 political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Ganosamhati Andolon, took part in the political movement.

Lawmaker Advocate Abul Kalam of Narayanganj-5 and Advocate Abdullah Al Amin of Narayanganj-4, Administrator of Narayanganj City Corporation Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan and local BNP leaders were present at the programme.
