Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, April 14, 2026 (BSS) - Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year 1433, was celebrated with festivity and widespread participation in the district today.

The district administration, political parties, educational institutions and various social and cultural organizations chalked out elaborate programmes, including rallies, cultural events and sports, to mark the day.

As part of the celebration, the district administration brought out a colourful mammoth rally from the Bakultola area in the town at 8 am.

The rally, led by local lawmaker Advocate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun, paraded through the main roads of the town before concluding at the Shilpakala Academy premises.

Zila Parishad Chairman Md Sirazul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali, and Superintendent of Police Mst Farhana Yesmin, among others, joined the rally.

The rally was followed by a cultural programme at the Shilpakala Academy premises.

Artists from Shilpakala Academy, Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha, and the District Shishu Academy performed in the cultural event.
