DHAKA, Mar 10,2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) has chalked out elaborate programmes on the occasion of the Independence and national day on March 26.

The programme includes discussion meeting, placing floral wreaths at the National Martyr’s Memorial  and special munajat or prayer.

On March 26, the national flag will be hoisted at all the central buildings, residential halls and hostels of the university at 6am in the morning.

The university teachers, students, officials, employees and alumnae will gather at Smriti chironton chattar at 5.45am.

Later, the Dhaka university staffs will start for the National Martyr’s Memorial led by its vice-chancellor (VC) at 6am and place floral wreaths there..

Special Munajat will be offered  at the University central mosque seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the Martyrs intellectuals after the Johr prayer on the day.

Special prayer also offered  at other religious places of worship.
In addition to this, sweets also will be distributed among the family members of the university employees.

A discussion meeting on the significance of the Independence and national day will be held at the Teachers Students Center (TSC) auditorium at 11.30am on March 29.

DU VC Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan will preside over the discussion meeting.

Pro vice chancellor (Admin) Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-vice chancellor (education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed and treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will attend the function as the guest of honor.
