KUET VC Prof Dr Masud assumes office

KHULNA, Mar 24, 2026 (BSS) - Professor Dr Muhammad Masud today formally assumed office as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

He was appointed to the post through a government notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education. 

According to the notification, Prof Masud will serve as the Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term from the date of his joining. 

In this capacity, he will act as the chief executive officer of the university.

After assuming office, Prof Masud expressed his deep gratitude to the government for entrusting him with the responsibility. 

Addressing teachers, officials, staff and students, he pledged to work towards transforming KUET into a modern, efficient and world-class technological university. 

He sought the collective cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve this goal.

Those present at the occasion assured the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of their full support in both academic and administrative affairs.

Prof Masud previously served as Vice-Chancellor of KUET. He also held several key positions including Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Hall Provost, Chairman of CRTS, and President and General Secretary of the Teachers' Association.

A prolific researcher, the VC has published over 150 papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences, and authored several books and book chapters.

He obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 from the then Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Khulna. 

He later earned his MSc and PhD degrees from Nagoya University and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at El Paso.
