Speaker's wife Namaz-e-Janaza held at Jatiya Sangsad

DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Namaz-e-Janaza of Professor Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, held at the JS's south plaza in the capital today.

Imam of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Quari M Abu Raihan led the Namaz-e-Janaza.

At the outset of the Janaza, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Barrister Kayser Kamal read the brief biography of deceased Dilara Hafiz.

Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip M Nurul Islam, its opposition leader Dr M Shafiqur Rahman, MP, BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed also spoke at the Janaza premises.

The speaker also expressed gratitude to the participants who were present at the Namaz-e-Janaza of his beloved wife Prof Dilara Hafiz.

He also recalled his successful conjugal life with his wife who was a Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid rich tribute to the deceased after the Janaza prayers.

Besides, Secretary of Public Division of the President's Office paid tribute on behalf of the President, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on behalf of the BNP, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, Chief Whip M Nurul Islam, other whips of the Jatiya Sangsad and secretary and officials of the Parliament Secretariat also paid tribute to the deceased.

After paying the rich tribute, Doa and Munajat were also offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the deceased. Later, Dilara Hafiz was laid to rest at the Banani Military Graveyard after her second Namaz-e-
Janaza.

Members of the cabinet division, BNP standing committee members, opposition members of the parliament, senior parliament secretariat officials and secretary and people from Bhola-3 constituency also attended the Namaz-e-Janaza, among others.
