
DHAKA, April 05, 2026 (BSS)- French ambassador in Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet today made a call on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at latter’s office.
During the meeting, they held detailed discussions on expanding existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as reviewing the progress of ongoing development projects.
The minister said that France is an important development partner of Bangladesh and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would expand further in the future.
He particularly emphasized enhancing partnership in the areas of rural and infrastructure development.
He also noted that France could play an effective role in improving inter-district connectivity in underdeveloped regions of Bangladesh.
In this regard, he highlighted various challenges and development needs of less developed areas to the ambassador.
Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet highly appreciated the existing relations with Bangladesh.
He said France is keen to take the relationship to new heights. He also hoped strengthening cooperation particularly in rural transport systems and safe water supply.
Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan and Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Mohammad Showkat Rashid Chowdhury and senior officials of the ministry and heads of relevant departments were present.
