DHAKA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Division has requested all government offices to conduct meetings and other official programmes through virtual platforms in a bid to save fuel amid global energy situation.

In a circular issued on April 12 and signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mamun of the Field Administration Coordination Branch, the Cabinet Division said it is necessary to ensure uninterrupted and effective government activities as well as conserving fuel resources.

The circular was sent to all secretaries, senior secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Nirbahi Officers concerned.

It said participation in various programmes—such as meetings, workshops and training sessions—organized by ministries and divisions must be ensured through virtual platforms for field-level officials.

According to the directive, district-level participation in divisional programmes and upazila-level participation in district programmes should be arranged virtually.

The Cabinet Division further said physical meetings should be avoided as far as possible, except in cases of urgent necessity, in order to reduce fuel consumption used for official travel.

It also instructed all concerned to strictly comply with the directive and take necessary measures accordingly until further notice.
