DHAKA, April 22, 2026 (BSS) - The University of Dhaka and Plan International Bangladesh today signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen mutual cooperation in education, research, youth development, gender equality and social advancement.

The MoU was signed at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room on the campus this morning.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. A B M Obaidul Islam attended the signing ceremony as the chief guest. 

Treasurer Prof. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury signed the agreement on behalf of the University of Dhaka, while Country Director Kabita Bose signed on behalf of Plan International Bangladesh.

Among others, Prof. Ayesha Banu and Prof.Tania Haque of the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, Director (Influencing, Campaign and Communication) Nishat Sultana, and Advisor (Gender, Diversity, Inclusion and Protection) Sanjida Ahmed of Plan International Bangladesh were present at the event.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly conduct research on gender equality, youth leadership development, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), child protection, climate change and disaster risk management.

The collaboration will also facilitate internships, training programmes, workshops, field-level learning opportunities and leadership development initiatives for students of the university.

In addition, both sides will jointly observe important international days, including International Women's Day, International Youth Day and World Environment Day, organise policy dialogues, promote student leadership skills and implement awareness programmes to prevent gender-based violence on campus.

Under the MoU, university faculty members will participate in project planning, monitoring, evaluation and policy research, while Plan International Bangladesh will provide field-level experience, technical support and innovative development initiatives.

The agreement will remain effective for five years and may be extended upon mutual consent of both parties.
