DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved a proposal to import 1 lakh metric tons of EN590-10 PPM diesel from Mazda Oil Co., Ltd. to meet country’s emergency fuel requirements.

The approval came at the 19th meeting of the committee held in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. The Energy and Mineral Resources Division placed the procurement as a miscellaneous agenda item.

The total cost of the import has been set at Taka 1,757.942 crore. Considering the urgency of the situation, the committee recommended the purchase through a direct international procurement method to ensure quick supply.

The decision comes against the backdrop of an unstable global geopolitical environment triggered by the ongoing tensions involving Iran and the US-Israel axis, which have disrupted energy markets.

The government aims to secure uninterrupted fuel supply and maintain stability in the domestic energy sector amid global volatility.
