GAZIPUR, May 12, 2026 (BSS) - Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan today stressed the need for personal awareness and responsible behavior to protect the environment and control pollution.

Speaking at a discussion at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, he said environmental protection is reflected through everyday habits and personal conduct.

"I keep used tissues in my pocket while outside and dispose them after finding a designated dustbin," he said, citing his own practice as an example of environmental responsibility.

The meeting was organised under a project of the Department of Environment titled "Strengthening the Capacity of Monitoring and Enforcement Wing for Environmental Protection, Quality Improvement and Pollution Control."

Director General of the Department of Environment Dr Md Lutfor Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest.

The DC criticised irresponsible behaviour that contributes to pollution.

He also urged people to develop good habits and uphold human values to build an environment-friendly society.

Speakers at the event highlighted the adverse impacts of climate change, air pollution and plastic waste, stressing the need for tree plantation and eco-friendly lifestyles.
