Light to moderate rain, thundershowers likely

DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions in the next 24 hours.

Moderately heavy to heavy falls may occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, a BMD bulletin said this morning.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Noakhali, Khulna, Bagerhat and Jashore and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius at Jashore under Khulna division, while the minimum temperature recorded today was 23.4 degrees Celsius at Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6:36 pm today and rises at 5:13 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
