BHOLA, May 31, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan today said the government will ensure uninterrupted water transport services and add new vessels on high-demand routes to prevent passenger inconvenience.

He also said that a nationwide boat census is underway to identify all vessels in the country and bring them under registration based on their capacity.

“Once this process is completed, illegal vessels will no longer be allowed to operate,” he made the remark during an inspection at the Ilisha ghat here.

Referring to the measures taken ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha, he emphasized that the government’s main priority is to ensure safe travel for the passengers returning home and later coming back to their workplaces.

Officials from local district administration and the ministry of shipping and local dignitaries accompanied the minister during the visit.
