Prof Dr Md Abdus Salam made new provost of SM Hall

DHAKA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) – Professor Dr Md Abdus Salam of the Chemistry department of Dhaka University has been appointed as the new Provost of Salimullah Muslim (SM) Hall.

The appointment was made recently by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A B M Obaidul Islam under Section 18(1) of the First Statutes of the Dhaka University Order, 1973, said a press release today.

Prof Abdus Salam is currently serving as the Convener of the Pro-BNP White Panel of the Faculty of Science at the University.

He obtained his BSc (Honours) and MSc degrees in Chemistry from the University of Dhaka. He later earned his MS and PhD degrees from Toyohashi University (Japan) of Technology, where he also completed his postdoctoral research.
