IM Minhaz emerges unbeaten champion

DHAKA, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - International Master (IM) Md. Minhaz Uddin of the Bangladesh Navy emerged as the unbeaten champion in the Anjans International Rapid Rating Chess Tournament held at the Chess Federation hall room on Friday.

IM Minhaz secured the title with 7.5 points from eight games. Two players secured seven points each, and their final positions were decided by the tie-break system. 

International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh Ansar and Sonargaon University finished as the runner-up, while Candidate Master Md. Abu Hanif of Sadharan Bima Corporation Sporting Club claimed third place.

Three players scored 6.5 points. Based on the tie-break, International Master Manon Reja Neer of the Bangladesh Navy finished fourth, International Master Abu Sufian Shakil of Bangladesh Police Chess Club secured fifth, and FIDE Master Subrota Biswas of City Club finished sixth.

With six points each, the players finishing from seventh to eighteenth were: Rayan Rashid Mugdho, FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid, Jabed Al Azad, Anata Choudhury, Candidate Master Zoar Haque Prodhan, Mohammed Enayet Hossain, Md. Abdur Rauf, Swarnavo Choudhury, FIDE Master Md. Saif Uddin, FIDE Master Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Farhadur Imam, and Md. Moniruzzaman Masud. 

A total of 169 players participated in the day-long event, including four International Masters, one Woman International Master, seven FIDE Masters, and one Woman FIDE Master.

The tournament was conducted in an eight-round Swiss-system format.
