Mild heat wave sweeps parts of country: BMD

DHAKA, June 02, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted mild heat wave in different parts of the country in next 24 hours commencing from 9 am.

According to a Met office bulletin issued this morning, mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Mymensingh, Chandpur and Lakshmipur and it may continue.

It also said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka division with moderately heavy falls at places over Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the bulletin added. 

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 38.0 degrees Celsius at Khulna in Khulna division while today's lowest temperature was 23.7 degrees Celcius at Sylhet in Sylhet division.

The sun will set at 6:43 pm today and rises at 5:11 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
