Mintoo calls for working together to control noise pollution

DHAKA, June 21, 2026 (BSS)- Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu today called upon everyone to work collectively to control air pollution and noise pollution.
 
“Collective cooperation from government and private institutions, relevant agencies, and the general public is needed to curb noise pollution,” he said.

The Minister was addressing the closing ceremony of a workshop on Integrated and Participatory Project for Noise Pollution Control at Department of Environment in Agargaon.

The Minister said that people must be made aware on how noise pollution is increasing health risks. He said the honk of transport itself is harmful for a driver. 

He hoped that continuous and regular campaign is necessary to make people aware about noise pollution.

The minister informed that efforts are underway to declare various areas as silent zones on a pilot basis.

Director General of the DoE Dr. Lutfor Rahman was in the chair.

At the end of the workshop, the minister unveiled the survey reports on noise level measurement in 64 district towns.
